St. John’s was built in the Victorian era (1848), and designed by the well known architect Benjamin Ferry in the classic Romanesque style, with an impressive hammerbeam roof. Facing a timeless valley of sweeping hills, with a sunset view framed by yew trees, it enjoys a picturesque and tranquil location.
The church has a main entrance and a back door, a cherry tree which bursts into bloom during the spring and a wild graveyard. The front lawn is immaculately tended and fringed with a hedgerow separating it from the surrounding fields. It is only a few minutes walk across the garden and even closer to the parking area.
Deconsecrated for 30 years, the church was restored and given new life to the community in the 1990s, and is now a concert hall and event space. More details »
